Huawei gets 550k ‘pre-orders’ for Honor 6 smartphone

Huawei has announced that during this week, that it got over 550,000 registrations from potential customers of the newly released Honor 6.

The Huawei Honor 6 (and the entire Honor series) is a smartphone that’s targeted at the market share of Chinese rivals, Xiaomi, who sell smartphones at unbelievable specs to price ratios with the help of flash sales.

That’s why the Honor 6 might never be available in normal offline retail stores (at least not officially). Instead, Huawei chose to sell the $327-priced smartphone via online portals.

The 550,000 ‘pre-orders’ Huawei claimed to have gained for the Honor 6 came from a popular social media platform in China called WeChat. Likewise Xiaomi employed the services of Weibo to deliver it’s own huge sales figures.

However, Huawei didn’t specify exactly how long it took them to register those customers, and how willing those customers were to buy. But one thing is certain, people love cheap things.
